About Us

· The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance of Boston is an independent, self-sustaining, non-profit organization that provides peer-led, volunteer-run support groups, activities, and events for people who have been affected by mood disorders. We also provide support groups for family and friends.

· The organization was established in 1985 when it was first known as the Manic-Depressive and Depressive Association (MDDA Boston).

· In our 36th year of service, we are holding fourteen unique support groups and a daily morning mediation circle. We are also growing our creativity program and our monthly Speaker Series.

· Due to the COVID-19 public emergency, our groups and programming are fully virtual on Zoom.

For a schedule of our support groups, please visit our schedules page.

Why is Membership Important?

  • DBSA Boston relies primarily upon membership dues to support its activities, which include Share/Care Support Groups, Activity Circles, Speaker Series, and many group events.
  • Membership dues finance various activities and DBSA Boston operations, which include the cost of our Zoom virtual rooms.
  • While not required, your membership shows your support of DBSA Boston’s mission to provide support groups, activities, and events for people who have been affected by mood disorders.

Who is eligible for a Membership?

  • Everyone (those with mood disorders, their family and friends, mental health advocates, clinicians, and more).

How long does Membership last?

  • Paid membership covers one full year (beginning the day on which you sign up and ending one year from that day).
  • Lifetime memberships are forever!

What comes with Membership?

DBSA Boston members in good standing are entitled to the following perks:

  • Incredible discounts on Facilitator Training and DBSA Boston events.
  • Opportunities to give back to the community by serving as a support group facilitator (after 6 months of membership and support group attendance) and by running for positions on the Board of Directors (after 1 year of membership).
